Recently my wife and I headed into Washington, DC from our home in Gainesville, VA. The drive was 37.1 miles each way, probably on the upper end of what is a comfortable range for the car, but we made it back to our house in with 27 miles of range showing on the dash.
With 27 miles left, the car was tracking at about 100 miles of driving range. It should be noted that we drove Rt. 29/50 into DC as to keep the average speed closer to 45 miles per hour, a speed that favors range. Also, the stop and go along the route allows for plenty of opportunities to regen (bring power back to the battery).
Other factors included having three people in the car and using ECO mode versus D, which also allows for more regen.
